Salesupply opens a fulfillment center and returns hub in Switzerland

Salesupply has added a fulfillment center and returns hub in Switzerland. The warehouse location is in Embrach, in the canton of Zurich, a few minutes from Zurich Airport and its customs infrastructure. Switzerland is the latest expansion of our international fulfillment network. It allows brands to hold stock locally, ship orders within Switzerland and process returns in-country, instead of having to cross the border again with every order.

That matters more in Switzerland than in virtually any other European country. Switzerland is not part of the EU customs union. As a result, every parcel you ship from Germany, the Netherlands, France or any other EU country counts as a formal import. In addition, Switzerland is a prosperous e-commerce market with high consumer spending, and Swiss consumers expect the same customer experience they get from local shops.

The margin you save when you hold stock locally

For most brands that sell cross-border, the Swiss border creates costs at two moments:

  • If you opt for the usual cross-border shipping, the customer pays for the order at checkout and may be charged again on delivery: Swiss import VAT (currently 8.1% standard) plus the carrier's handling fees.
  • Returns are the second cost item, and the one brands underestimate most often. A return from Switzerland to an EU warehouse is not simply a return shipment, but a re-import. If such a return is handled incorrectly, you can incur unnecessary import VAT and customs clearance costs on top of the cost of the return itself.

With stock already located in Switzerland, both forms of friction disappear from the customer journey: orders are shipped domestically at one clear price and returns stay in Switzerland, instead of crossing the border again.

Unlocking local conversion potential with Digitec Galaxus

As Switzerland's leading online retailer, Galaxus places great value on exactly the factors that local fulfillment improves: availability, delivery speed and reliable returns handling. Delivery time and availability influence how offers perform on the platform, service levels are closely monitored, and marketplace sellers need a Swiss returns address. With local fulfillment, the infrastructure required for this is in place from day one.

One global fulfillment network, now including a Swiss location

The Swiss fulfillment center operates on the same setup as the rest of our fulfillment network across three continents: one IT integration, one real-time inventory dashboard and oversight of daily operations by our Fulfillment Control Tower, so that disruptions are flagged before they reach your customer.

If you already work with us for fulfillment elsewhere, Switzerland is simply an additional location within the same network, not a new project. If you are entering the market for the first time, from day one you have local stock, clear prices at checkout, handling of Swiss VAT and customs formalities, and returns processing within Switzerland.
